Meet the Board
Members of the JCI Edmonton Board of Directors serve our organization for a term of one year. They lead positive change in their assigned roles, which include JCI President, two Vice Presidents, one Executive Vice President, General Legal Counsel, Treasurer, Secretary, and various Directors.
The Board of Directors volunteer for these positions and JCI Edmonton chapter members elect them each year at our JCI Edmonton Annual General Meeting.

Michelle Cowan
Chair of the Board
A former JCI Edmonton chapter president, Michelle now serves as Chair of the Board for 2012. Additionally, Michelle works in commercial real estate at Avison Young.

Chris Curtola
Chapter President
Chris is the leader of JCI Edmonton. Furthermore, Chris is a principal in New Monaco Enterprise Corp., in addition to owning both a sign company, and an entertainment production company.

Matthew Glass
Vice-President
As Vice-President, Matthew oversees the portfolios of Corporate Development & Strategic Partnerships. Moreover, he is a passionate advocate for JCI’s role in socially conscientious programming.

Adrienne Woodward
Vice-President
As Vice-President, Adrienne oversees the Communications and Community Development portfolios. Currently, Dr. Woodward is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta.

Stefan Cherwoniak
Vice-President
As Vice-President, Stefan oversees the portfolios of Growth, Training & Travel. He is a dedicated mortgage planner in addition to being a serial wine-o, and a certified chef.

Mark Chandra
Treasurer
As Treasurer, Mark manages JCI Edmonton’s finances and works to ensure a sustainable chapter future. Currently, Mark is a BCom (Co-Op) student at UAlberta.

Karen Broda
Secretary
As the secretary, Karen takes the meeting minutes and keeps the board organized. Karen works as a Commercial Underwriter at Intact Insurance.

Martene Woodward
Director of Communications
As Communications Director, Martene is in charge of making sure everyone knows about all the JCI happenings. During work hours, she is busy as a senior mortgage consultant.

David Brown
Director of Corporate Developement
As Director of Corporate Development, David builds partnerships with organizations to help support JCI. David works as an Account Executive for Lloyd Sadd Insurance Brokers.

Alice-Louise Phipps
Director of Travel & Int'l Affairs
You can’t have JCI without the “I” for International. As Director, Alice coordinates our chapter’s participation in events outside the Edmonton area.

Angela Watt
Director of Membership
Angela is the Director of Membership. In addition, Angela is the owner of Sociable Events, a wedding and special events company.

Shant Chakmakian
Director of Strategic Partnerships
Shant is an IT Systems Consultant that specializes in small-to-medium sized organizations. He is also the Director for Strategic Partnerships for JCI.

Hugo Gingras
Director of Training
As Director of Training, Hugo looks for trainers and guest speakers that will benefit our members. He is a real estate investor and a bilingual customer service agent at Acklands Grainger.

Legal Counsel
A lawyer at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, Robert serves as JCI Edmonton’s Legal Counsel and is passionate about ensuring that the board operates under good governance and is socially responsible.
